Foods That Fight: Tracking The Rise Of The Immunity Diet

New call-to-action

A new focus on balanced, healthy living.

Most everyone wants to live a healthier lifestyle, whether it’s because they want to feel better, to lose weight, to prevent disease, or just to enjoy a more fulfilling life. And for most people, eating a healthier diet is often seen as the key. However, making a positive, long-term change in one’s diet can be a big challenge.

Now, COVID-19 has reshaped the way consumers approach health and wellness. And as devastating as the pandemic has been, our latest research shows one silver lining: Many consumers have adopted new, positive habits to help them stay healthy during the pandemic. One of these healthy habits has been to pay more attention to the foods we eat, especially foods that promise to boost our immune systems. But the reasons behind this trend are more complex than a simple reaction to coronavirus. Here’s a look at what our research found.

A wake-up call for good intentions.

62% of 360 Market Reach Health and Wellness Community members consume immunity-boosting foods and 93% of those cited the need to maintain a healthy, balanced diet as a key motivator for consuming immune-boosting foods. A desire to avoid COVID-19 was fourth on the list behind both avoiding the common cold and other such illnesses and lowering stress. So, while there has been a clear trend toward immune-boosting foods in recent months, our research suggests that it is not primarily driven by concerns about the pandemic, though it is certainly a contributing factor.
